Overview
The South End is one of Boston's chicest neighborhoods. Much of the neighborhood features beautiful brownstones and lofts, upscale restaurants, bars, boutiques, and a large number of public parks. The South End may be one of Boston's most diverse neighborhoods. There is a growing gay population, as well as a lively student and artist community. The South End near Columbus is popular amongst Northeastern Students. Many Boston University Medical students reside near the Medical Center. Although it is primarily a very wealthy and fashionable community, the South End is still home to some low-income housing near the Roxbury border. The South End is a foodie's paradise. The neighborhood is filled with trendy caf??s, bars, and restaurants. Every weekend SoWA (South of Washington) Sundays brings an open air markets featuring tons of food, craft, and antique vendors. Commuting to and from the South End is easy. The neighborhood is on numerous bus lines, including the silver line. The orange line is accessible via Tufts Medical Center and Ruggles station.
